I will say, though, that the books I have finished have excellent beginnings, the ones I've only begun have exciting endings, and the ones that I'm in the middle of are even better.
(Come to think of it, though, one of these days I might write a personal review of the book that I am writing, the book that I am writing consisting of reviews of other books that I have written, just so I can read about my writing habits instead of writing about my reading habits, for once. That may not make sense. Neither do I.)

I only make scents after too many beans.
Don't what came over me there. Naturally I never eat too many beans.
Don't know what came over me. Ahem. It's the fumes.
Bean there, dung that.
Tim, I saw at LP that you are doing "open mike" gigs in Melbourne? I thought you might be a bit shy for that sort of thing...
For what it's worth, I am presently reading Graham Greene's Brighton Rock, his first big hit. I think it starts off very strong, but the rest of it wanders around in quality to a very large degree.
It's open mike singing that I'd be really scared of.
There's a number of good and entertaining open mike sessions happening around Melbourne, so why not take advantage of them? I sometimes take stuff from the blog (like I did this Saturday), sometimes just other stuff I write.
Maybe I should have warned Robert (Merkel) not to write about the evening though, since last time I mentioned I went to a poetry night, someone else jokingly suggested assassination!
(Just for context, here's what I'm referring to in that last sentence.)
