Coincidentally, I got "Oedipus gouging out his ipods" when I looked at this. I hadn't seen that one before.
Thanks - one of my favourite titles! For some reason it doesn't seem to come up when I google it though? Weird...
Perhaps it will come up now?
The Oedipus myth does seem to provide you with continual inspiration, but perhaps it's time you tackled the Electra myth, just in the interests of equal opportunity for all neurotics...
Yeah, it's Oedipus gets all the glory. I know hardly any of the details of the Electra myth, not sure if Ovid (?) did a version in his Metamorphoses?
Hey, I'll treat that as a reader feedback request, and send a note to my Creative Inspiration Centre straightaway.
There are a couple of figures named Electra in Greek mythology, but the one in the Oresteia, rather than the pleiad (which must be what you're thinking of), would be the one Freud had in mind when he formulated the Electra complex.
So, you see, every neurosis you can manifest, we can manifest too!
I'll have a look. I'm not so sure either the Oedipus or the Electra complexes would be exactly amenable with any modern notion of equal opportunity...!
