Good reviews of Adam Sandler's latest movie, Click, here, and here.
Now, I don't know about you, but I quite like American comedy in films. When it's done well, it can be done very well indeed. Here's a list of some of the better ones in the last ten years or so. (And I've made no attempt to distinguish 'good, quality films' from 'films that I just liked') I've included two remakes, and there's also a Jim Carrey and another Adam Sandler film in there. There's even - (horror!) - a Julia Roberts flick. See what you think:
- My Best Friend's Wedding
- Ace Ventura, Pet Detective
- Rat Race
- The Producers
- Ten Things I Hate About You
- Deuce Bigolo, Male Gigolo
- Loony Toons: Back in Action
- Big Daddy
- Nurse Betty

I thought it was deuce bigalo?
I;m interested in Click, but generally i prefer british comedy...adam sandler is usually pretty good though, except for punch drunk love, that was crap.
You're quite right, I've fixed that extra embarassing mistake.
I'm generally indifferent on Adam Sandler, but he is in some decent films; Big Daddy (that was the name of that film, wasn't it?) surprised me; it was corny but good.
I'll give you all but Space Jam. That's one of the DVDs I hide down the back of the couch on school camp so that the kids won't make me put it on. Hideous.
Big Daddy was funny but personally I prefer Happy Gilmore. Big Daddy lost the plot towards the end and the whole sequence in the courtroom at the end, where they all end up hugging each other and weeping, can kiss my ass. I like it better when they are watching the rollerbladers fall over. And is was largely as a result of this film that my brother and I felt compelled to visit Hooters whilst in the States last year. Rawk.
I thought Space Jam was going to be crap, but loved it when I saw it. It might have been a one-off affair, but most of the jokes came off well. Brendan Fraser was hilarious, and I loved the whole 'Area 51' send up:
'Oh no. This isn't Area 51. That's just a cover up by the government to distract people - this place is Area 52.'
I'm a sucker for courtroom comedy scenes, that's one reason why The Producers is up there.
Oh, I've finally figured it out. You're thinking of a different film! Brendan Fraser isn't in Space Jam, he's in Looney Tunes: Back in Action. Space Jam stars "Michael Jordan as himself" and is best forgotten. Permanently.
The fact that I felt the need to figure this out says many disturbing things about me.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH! *Smacks forehead with palm* I just KNEW I'd make a mistake like that. Or, in this case, ANOTHER mistake ...
I am a first-class cretin. I'm changing that now.
I definitely agree with 10 Things and Ace Ventura - oh man, I used to be able to recite all the lines by heart. I could do the same for Dumb and Dumber too.
Hey, I was twelve or something. Fart and poo jokes were just so trendy...ah, the good old days.
Me, I'm fast learning all the lines of The Producers; as you may or may not have guessed, I am absolutely obsessed with that film.
