All Timsy were the borogroves

"Coming up next, Tim." Seldom have less portentous words been spoken. One likes to make an impression, and it is considered highly desirable to keep one's audience in suspense, but to be introduced with a word that rhymes with 'flim', is the first syllable in the name of a chocolate biscuit, and begins words such as 'timorous' - well, a meringue might have people in more suspense.

Try this at home: pronounce the following introductions in a portentous, stentorian manner. You will find it is much easier to do with the first three than the last one:

"PREPARE for SAURON!"
"MAKE WAY FOR ZOG!"
"SQUIRM before the BARON SILAS GREENBACK!"
"And now... for more TIM!"

And now, for less Tim.

I'm just glad I'll never have to announce...And now, Nebuchadnezzar...

This one has got to rate as one of the best dramatic introductions ever. Hard to top it, really - everything after it would be a disappointment.
